Reduce Pressure Loss and Maintenance Costs
With cloth filter bags, shop owners can infinitely expand their dust collection systems filter surface area - reducing pressure drop, simplifying maintenance, and allowing for longer times between filter cleanings.
Oneida Air Systems recommends a minimum 10:1 CFM/Cloth ratio for adequate airflow i.e. for every 10 CFM of actual airflow provided by your dust collector, you will want 1 sq ft of filter area. For example, if a 1.5HP cyclone dust collector offers 600 CFM (after taking into account losses from the cyclone, ducting, etc.) you would want at least 60 sq ft of filter area.
Be cautious when designing a custom filtration system as many dust collection manufacturers (excluding OAS) advertise "free fan CFM ratings" that are nearly 2x higher than the real air volume performance.
