The Dust Deputy can be used with any make, model, or size wet/dry vacuum with an inlet ranging from 1.5" to 2.5" in size. We recommend that it has an airflow rating of at least 50 CFM to ensure optimum dust separation performance.

The lid will seal secure under vacuum pressure once your shop vac is turned on, so it's ok for it to be loose! The fit makes this lid easier to take off compared to other bucket lids that might require a tool to remove. Instead, the snap-on tab holds it in place during use and transit while allowing it to easily snap on/off when needed. ​The lid may jostle slightly on some non-OAS bucket lids, but as long as the rim is flat, the seal will be airtight during use.

Yes! Both the original Dust Deputy cyclone and the new Dust Deputy 2.5 cyclone share the same bottom flange pattern. This makes upgrading existing cyclone installations quick and easy! You can find printable template files for download in the Documents tab of our product pages.

The Dust Deputy 2.5 Cyclone has a larger diameter inlet and outlet to increase flow, and a larger overall size to reduce friction relative to the volume of air passing through. Less friction means less pressure drop and increased flow.

If your shop has fixed piping that matches the diameter of your dust collector's intake, choose a cyclone that matches that diameter as well. The collector's horsepower and CFM do not affect the performance of the different models. For more details, click "Read More".

Standard single-stage or bag-style dust collectors lose suction very quickly as the filter becomes clogged with fine dust. The cyclone uses centrifugal force to separate dust and debris from the incoming airstream, containing it safely away from the collector. This frees up the dust collector to move as much air as physically possible without hindrance. That means less downtime for filter cleaning, continuously high suction, and significantly prolonged filter life.

In addition to the cyclone and your dust collector, you will need a reinforced, airtight container to mount it to, as well as flex hose or piping to connect it to your tools and dust collector. The router hood includes a universal base plate that features multiple screw-hole patterns to fit nearly any portable router available on the market today. Yes! The Dust-Free Router Hood is designed to fit most fixed and plunge base routers. However, if the hole pattern on the base of your router does not line up with at least two of the holes or slots on the Dust-Free Router Hood, the Router Hood base may be modified in the field. Click "Read More" for instructions. Note: the Router Hood is made from polycarbonate plastic, the same material used for bulletproof windows. It is extremely tough and drills easily without cracking. In general, no. There are very few trim routers that have sufficient room to attach the Router Hood's base plate and hose connection. One notable exception is the Dewalt DWP611. Please review our compatibility list for more information.

No. This product is designed specifically for use with portable fixed-base and plunge style routers. Router tables require a different mechanism for dust collection.

Yes. For inside edge routing the lower chip cover can be easily detached (no tools necessary) allowing the bit to sink in completely while waste is removed from above the bit.

If the drum of your system is empty, you may hear a loud noise as the metal flexes from the suction pressure created when turning the system on. This sound will stop when material is within the drum and is to be expected.

In general, the 220V model will have lower running amperage than the 110V, which can be an advantage for operators using multiple tools on the same breaker. There is no difference in airflow performance between different voltage variations of the system. You should purchase the unit that best matches the power requirements of your shop. Under normal operation conditions only the finest dust will get past the high-efficiency cyclone to the filter. The Filter can be cleaned easily with the Pulse Cleaning lever. This takes less than a minute. Pulse down the with the Pulse Cleaning lever frequently or after every use. Pulsing (reverse air) removes the fine dust from the filter. It will keep your system‘s airflow at an optimal performance level.
Upset condition: If the dust bin is overfilled and the filter pleats get packed with sawdust, the filter must be removed for manual cleaning.

Yes but you will first need to install a Machine Adapter into the dust collector's inlet. These adapters are smaller on the raw end than traditional ducting so that they can slip into the ports on systems and tools i.e. a 5" Quick-Clamp Duct Machine Adapter will measure ~4.9" O.D. on the raw end.

This can vary widely depending on how often your dust collector is used and what kind of dusts it's exposed to but you should typically clean it only once you've noticed a considerable drop in suction performance. In our experience this can be around once per year, but with heavy amounts of sanding it could be as often as once per month. A meter such as our Filter Efficiency Gauge can also be used to monitor pressure buildup and inform you when the filter needs to be cleaned.

Standard single-stage dust collectors are typically equipped with a cloth bag filter rated for particles 1 micron in size. While effective for trapping some dusts, they still let through the smallest particles that are in fact the most damaging to your health as they can become deeply lodged within your sinus cavities. Additionally, many wood dust have been shown in studies to be carcinogenic. This independently certified HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns (the same level of filtration used in hospital environments) so woodworkers can rest assured that their hobby won't hurt their health.

Yes, it will improve it! This product has a significantly higher filtration surface area compared to cloth bags, which allows a higher volume of air to pass through and reducing pressure buildup.

With regular maintenance, our cartridge filters can easily last up to 5 years. Your filter should only be replaced if thorough cleanings do not help to restore your suction performance.

No, Oneida Air Systems does not manufacture custom parts to order. Our entire product offering is showcased on our online store and in our downloadable catalog. If a part is not shown in these places, we do not currently offer it.

Yes! As long as the opening pipe diameters are the same, OAS Quick-Clamp Duct components can be combined and used interchangeably with Nordfab® QF ducting and other common clamp-together ductwork products.

While there are exceptions, dust collection ducting is typically designed to work with other components of the same type (e.g. Standard, Spiral, Quick-Clamp); you will need adapters to combine different types together. For example, if you want to connect your standard sheet metal ducting to newer, clamp together components, you'll need to install Machine Adapters into your standard duct. These adapters will convert your raw, standard duct so they can accept Quick-Clamp components.

Bag systems fill quickly, clog quickly, and are extremely dusty. The more you sand the worse your air flow. After about 10 minutes of sanding, there is usually a drop in suction due to restricted air flow, which means leaving behind more material on the floor and in the air. Additionally, more dust on the floor means more work for your sander, meaning your abrasives wear away quicker.

Yes. Oneida Air Systems offer a variety of retrofit handles that can convert older floor sanders to be compatible with our Vortex cyclone separator and dust collection hoses.

Raw dust collection hose can be coupled using our Male-Male Ducting Adapters with minimal loss of airflow performance. The adapters should be secured in place using hose clamps.

All of our clear, ducting flex hose (item #s beginning with DHF) are labeled with sizes referring to their inner diameter and maximum length. i.e. item # DHF060500 has an inner diameter of 6 inches and a maximum length of 5 feet.

No. There is a small section near the lock of the clamp where there are no holes. This portion has no holes because that is as far as the clamp can contract.

No. Our clear flex-hose is rated for use with cool, light dusts such as wood, plant matter, etc. Hot, smoldering materials may melt or otherwise damage the the hose.

Short pieces of Flex Hose (5’ and under) do not have to be grounded. For longer Flex Hose lengths, you can use the internal wire in the Flex Hose as a grounding wire, if desired. Click "Read More" for further instructions.
