How do I connect Spiral Pipe components?

Spiral pipe components are designed for long runs and industrial applications. Their heavy gauge and rigid, reinforced design make crimping very difficult, so they must be connected by other means.

Flange Method

Install Angle Ring Flanges into each end of the pipe. These are typically spot welded in place and then sealed with silicone caulk or foil tape to make the connection airtight. The pipes can then be aligned end-to-end and connected with nuts and bolts (not included).

This technique is more labor intensive to install, but it allows for simpler disassembly down the road. Recommended for commercial projects where the duct may need to be frequently moved or taken apart for maintenance and cleaning.

Adapter Method

The simplest way to connect spiral pipe is to use our Spiral Pipe Adapters. These small fittings are crimped on both ends, allowing them to slip into the raw ends of spiral pipe components and couple two of them together. Once the pieces are snug, they should be sealed in place using foil tape or silicone caulk and ideally, secured with machine screws or pop rivets.

This technique is faster and easier to install (compared to using Angle Rings) but requires small adjustments in the duct design as the adapters will add roughly 2-4" in between each connected spiral pipe component.
