What vacuum do you recommend for the Dust Deputy?
The Dust Deputy can be used with any make, model, or size wet/dry vacuum with an inlet ranging from 1.5" to 2.5" in size. We recommend that it has an airflow rating of at least 50 CFM to ensure optimum dust separation performance.
Does the Steel Dust Deputy have tapered inlets like your resin models?
No. The Steel Dust Deputy has straight 2" inlet and outlet ports. A 2.25" Hose Adapter and Hose Coupler are included with the steel Deluxe and DIY kits to simplify hose connections for customers.
Does the Dust Deputy work with the new Festool CT units that have the T-Loc system to hold the systainer?
Yes! The Ultimate Dust Deputy is adaptable to all Midi and Mini Festool vacs. The new vacs do require you to rotate the systainer box 180 degrees.
What is the difference between the black Dust Deputy and the clear one?
The black version provides maximum static conductivity for applications that require a high degree of grounding conductivity, and for vacs with a static grounding inlet.
Can I use this cyclone with food?
This product will work with food. The material is food safe; however, it is not made in a food grade facility.
What is the height of the Dust Deputy using single bucket, no casters, floor to top of elbow?
It is 30.75" to the very top of the tapered elbow fitting on the Dust Deputy Deluxe (with a single bucket and no casters).If you are requesting this measurement to fit the product underneath a table, or into a custom built cart, we recommend leaving an additional 0.5" of space above the cyclone (31.25" total) to accommodate variations in hose connections.
Can you use this multi-cyclone design with a 2HP system?
Horsepower isn't the best indicator for the strength of a vacuum system. The better metric to look for is the CFM (airflow rating) of your vacuum.
The multi-cyclone design is ideal for vacuum systems (not dust collectors) with a CFM rating of up to 250 CFM.
What is the weight of the steel cyclone itself?
Approximately 5 pounds. The exact weight may vary due to slight variances in the manufacturing process.
Does the 2.5 have the same flange pattern as the original Dust Deputy?
Yes! Both the original Dust Deputy cyclone and the new Dust Deputy 2.5 cyclone share the same bottom flange pattern. This makes upgrading existing cyclone installations quick and easy!

What type of dust bin works best?
You can use any shape or size container for your Dust Deputy cyclone. Keep in mind that the smaller the container, the more often you'll have to empty it.
The dust container you provide must be able to be sealed airtight for the best performance. Foam gaskets or silicone caulk can help provide an airtight seal. Containers must also be strong enough to withstand the pressure created by your vacuum. For plastic buckets, we recommend at least a 90 mil. wall thickness; otherwise, the container may collapse when in use.
