Should the inlet reducer for my dust collector be crimped or straight?
The inlets on all of our dust collectors are sized to fit standard ductwork. If you need a reducer to connect to ductwork that’s smaller than your collector’s inlet, the end of the reducer that connects to the inlet will need to be crimped, so that it will fit inside the inlet.
How do I connect the Mini Gorilla to my tools?
The Mini-Gorilla's inlet measures as 5" on the outer diameter, making it ideal for accepting raw (uncrimped) ductwork fittings over the inlet such as reducers and quick-connects. Crimped ductwork will not usually fit into the inlet but can be done when necessary and secured in place with foil tape.Flex hose can also be pulled over the inlet but will generally be a tight fit. Heat (such as a hair dryer) can be gently applied to the molded inlet to make the resin more maleable and allow for easier hose fittings - exercise caution when heat-treating so as not to damage the system. OAS highly recommends our 5" Quick-Connect fitting (item #DQK050000) for making direct flex hose connections with the molded Mini Gorilla.
Is it possible to buy just the waste bin?
The waste bin is not available as a standalone item, but if you are an existing owner of the Dust Deputy then we can readily offer you a replacement for any damaged components. Please contact our service department to order.
How is the Mini Gorilla filter cleaned? I don't see the typical hand crank.
The use of hand cranks that "beat" the filter can damage the filter's pleating material overtime, so our systems are not built with such mechanisms.
The filter on the Mini Gorilla dust collector is easily cleaned by blowing compressed air from the outside of the filter. This knocks the dust off of the pleats (which are coated with a non-stick, PFTE membrane) and the resulting fine dusts falls to the bottom of the filter. At the bottom of the filter is a 2.5" port. Simply open that port and the dust waste can be emptied into a bucket or connected to a shop vacuum for easy disposal.
This can all be done without having to remove the filter from the system and helps maintain the filter's lifespan for years to come.
Is there a wall mount option?
No. We do not offer the Mini-Gorilla dust collector with a wall mounted option.
What is the minimum air watts needed for the Dust Deputy?
Rather than worrying about what specs your vacuum needs (e.g. air watts, cfm, static lift, etc.), we at Oneida Air Systems have a much simpler approach - simply match the size of your vacuum's inlet to the size of the Dust Deputy cyclone's ports.
The Dust Deputy cyclone's tapered 2" ports are designed to work with any make and model wet/dry vacuum on the market today, regardless of horsepower, wattage, etc. Most vacuums will have an inlet ranging from 1.5" to 2.5" in diameter - perfect for our cyclone.
Keep in mind that every component installed onto your vacuum will have an effect on the system's suction power. That includes your hose, hose attachments, adapters, elbows, couplers, etc.
Is a Sleeve the same thing as an Adjustable Nipple?
Yes. It is the same exact part, but with a different name. It was updated to better reflect how the part works and what role it plays in the dust collection ductwork layout.
Can I use this upstream of a 650 CFM jet tools bag type dust collector?
No. The smaller Dust Deputy cyclone are intended for use with HIGH pressure and LOW airflow systems, such as wet/dry vacuums, with port sizes 2.5" diameter and smaller. It would not be suitable for your HIGH airflow, LOW pressure system (i.e. dust collectors).
You would want to look at our line of Super Dust Deputy cyclones instead. Match the cyclone based on the size of your dust collector's intake.
How can this adapt to 6 inch S&D pvc pipe ??
We do not have any adapters to sewer and drain PVC pipe. We do not recommend using it due to the static charge it creates.
Why does my SMART system run after I shut it off?
The SMART system has a cooling fan on the VFD that runs after the system is shut off. Depending on how long the system has been on or if the outside temperature is hotter than normal, it may run for a longer time to cool the motor down. This is a normal function of the system, and it will stop automatically.
