These foam silencers do not require much cleaning as they are only used to reduce noise and not perform any actual filtration of dust. However, if you find that yours is particularly packed with dust over time, you can clean them by gently knocking the dust loose in an outdoor environment, or by vacuuming them clean with a shop vacuum.

No you do not need to remove the internal foam filter. These "drop-in" foam silencers that are included with the cartridge filters of our older dust collection systems can be used in conjunction with the Stacking Sound Filters.

The lid will seal secure under vacuum pressure once your shop vac is turned on, so it's ok for it to be loose! The fit makes this lid easier to take off compared to other bucket lids that might require a tool to remove. Instead, the snap-on tab holds it in place during use and transit while allowing it to easily snap on/off when needed. ​The lid may jostle slightly on some non-OAS bucket lids, but as long as the rim is flat, the seal will be airtight during use.

Yes! Both the original Dust Deputy cyclone and the new Dust Deputy 2.5 cyclone share the same bottom flange pattern. This makes upgrading existing cyclone installations quick and easy! You can find printable template files for download in the Documents tab of our product pages.

Our reinforced lid will fit most standard buckets, although the locking mechanism may not work as well due to variations in size. We would recommend using a more heavy-duty bucket with the Dust Deputy, as standard buckets may collapse under vacuum pressure. Our collapse-proof buckets can be found on our website or in the Dust Deputy Deluxe kit.

If the drum of your system is empty, you may hear a loud noise as the metal flexes from the suction pressure created when turning the system on. This sound will stop when material is within the drum and is to be expected.

Our urethane flex hose can be cut to size using a razor knife and diagonal cutters to through the clear lining and reinforcing metal wire (respectively).

We recommend that a 6x5 steel reducer (item #DRL060500) be installed on the cyclone's top outlet port. The 6" end should be uncrimped for a proper fitting into the outlet.
